It's no a secret that small bedrooms can be hard for design. The good news is that it is quite possible to give a small sleeping area an amazing design.
1. CHOOSE space-saving furniture
Saving space (besides providing a visually pleasing aesthetic, of course) is key in a small bedroom. It is recommended to use built-in storage compartments, storage baskets under the bed, bedside tables, benches that also serve as shelves.
2. DON'T overdo it with patterns
You want to create the illusion of space and calm in your small bedroom, which is why you should avoid overloading with patterns. A right one for a focal point is fine, along with another, bolder choice you can go for in decorating, and for the rest, stick to subtle finishes and understated colors.
3. CHOOSE a feature wall
Speaking of focal points, it is advisable to have a feature wall in the small bedroom as it can provide color and pattern without taking up visual space. Maybe paneling, wallpaper or just colors. However, be sure to leave the other walls in a neutral color.
4. Do NOT decorate too little
Less is more, of course, but don't sacrifice design for space as it can very easily turn into a boring and disjointed style. Don't forego a piece you would normally include, such as wall art or rugs. They will help the bedroom to be cozy, welcoming and well decorated.
5. Use vertical space
Use the vertical space to add functionality to your small bedroom. Shelves on the walls, and why not lamps, would do a good job. You can even opt for wall-mounted side tables to provide extra space.
6. Do NOT ignore the windows
Curtains that are exactly the size of the window will make the room even smaller. Place the moldings near the ceiling and have elegant curtains or drapes that cascade down to the floor.
7. Copy the five-star hotels
Many boutique hotels have quite small bedrooms, but very few people notice. This is because they are so carefully and cleverly decorated. Some of the more creative tricks they use are: padded headboards, decorative pillows, luxurious and sumptuous floor rugs, layered lighting and clean color palettes. Also keep in mind that hotels always include bedside tables, even if they are just small shelves, to improve the functionality of the room.
8. Include mirrors
They double the visual space and help reflect light to make the room look brighter and better. For example placed on the doors of a wardrobe with sliding doors they would look great!
